JMM’s Umakant Rajak Claims Chandankiyari, Defeats BJP’s Opposition Leader

Former AJSU winner secures 90,027 votes, wins SC-reserved seat by 33,733-vote margin

Key Points:

* BJP’s Amar Kumar Bauri slips to third position with 56,091 votes

* JLKM candidate Arjun Rajwar secures second place with 56,294 votes

* Rural constituency records strong participation from 2.8 lakh voters

RANCHI – JMM candidate Umakant Rajak has secured a decisive victory in the SC-reserved Chandankiyari assembly seat.

The constituency witnessed significant voter turnout. Over 2.8 lakh voters participated.

Moreover, male voters numbered 1,43,171. Female voters stood at 1,37,214.

Meanwhile, JLKM’s Arjun Rajwar showed surprising strength. He secured the second position.

However, BJP faced a major setback. Opposition Leader Bauri finished third.

Furthermore, this victory marked a reversal. Bauri had defeated Rajak in 2019.

"Political dynamics have shifted significantly," observed a local political analyst.

Besides, Rajak’s previous AJSU connection proved beneficial. He maintained strong local support.

In addition, the constituency’s rural character influenced voting patterns. All polling stations were village-based.

Meanwhile, the margin of victory was substantial. Rajak led by 33,733 votes.

"Voters clearly preferred JMM’s development agenda," remarked a political observer.

The constituency falls under Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat. Voting concluded on November 20.
