In a sensational development, the political advisor to the former CM Babulal Marandi has been arrested in cases relating to sexual assault and SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The issue has also turned into a political slugfest.
Ranchi: Sunil Tiwari, political advisor to the former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, has been arrested by the special team of Jharkhand Police in a case relating to sexual assault on minor and under provisions of SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Sunil Tiwari was arrested from Delhi-Agra Road. Three teams were formed for his arrest.
Police will bring accused Sunil Tiwari to Ranchi and he will be interrogated at Argora police station.
An FIR was registered against Sunil Tiwari at Argora police station in Ranchi on August 16 alleging rape, molestation and crimes under provisions of SC-ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act.
A minor domestic help had filed a sexual assault case against Sunil Tiwari with Argora police station. The allegations were made by the victim herself.
Sunil Tiwari had also filed an anticipatory bail petition in this connection, which was rejected by the court.
At the same time, an FIR was also registered against Sunil Tiwari in the Argora police station of Ranchi in connection with a case relating to child labor, after which he was absconding.
The entire issue has also turned into a political tug of war. The issue has slowly been ballooning into a political slugfest. BJP has called it a political conspiracy to defame it.
On the other hand, the Governor too had spoken with the DGP and told him to ensure that no innocent person is harassed in the case and complete justice is done.
