JAMSHEDPUR – A threatening WhatsApp message demanding Rs 5 crore from Bollywood star Salman Khan has been traced to Jamshedpur, prompting a police investigation.
The Mumbai Traffic Police received an alarming message on Thursday.
The communication warned Khan to pay Rs 5 crore to resolve issues with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Investigators have linked the SIM card to an individual in Jamshedpur.
The Mumbai Police team is now en route to Jharkhand for further inquiry.
Interestingly, the phone’s current location is showing in West Bengal.
The number had previously been active near Mumbai and Delhi before moving eastward.
Authorities have registered a case of threat and extortion at the Worli Police Station.
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur Police have refrained from commenting on the matter.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal stated that no official case has been filed locally.
This is not the first time Khan has faced threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Last April, his Bandra residence was targeted in a shooting incident.
Moreover, Navi Mumbai Police recently thwarted an assassination attempt on the actor.
They arrested a suspected shooter, Sukhbir Singh, from Haryana in connection with the plot.
The authorities are treating this latest threat with utmost seriousness.
