Jamshedpur Forum Chief Congratulates New Tata Trust Chairman

Urges Noel Tata to Improve Air Connectivity for Steel City Residents

Key Points:

• A.K. Srivastava congratulates Noel Tata on Tata Trust chairmanship

• Forum chief requests enhanced air travel facilities for Jamshedpur

• Proposal aims to connect Sonari Airport with Ranchi for wider reach

JAMSHEDPUR – A.K. Srivastava, Chairman of the Jamshedpur Citizens Forum, has extended his congratulations to Noel Tata on his recent appointment as Chairman of Tata Trust.

In a letter to Tata, Srivastava expressed optimism about the new leadership. He voiced hope that Tata would successfully achieve the goals set by his predecessor, Ratan Tata.

Moreover, Srivastava recalled a previous encounter with Noel Tata on March 3, 2023, at Tata Works Main Gate. T.V. Narendran, CEO of Tata Steel, had facilitated the introduction.

During this meeting, Srivastava had proposed an important initiative for Jamshedpur’s air connectivity. He requested the establishment of facilities for issuing boarding passes at Sonari Airport.

Furthermore, the proposal included arrangements for transporting luggage and passengers from Sonari to Ranchi Airport. This service aims to enhance travel options for Jamshedpur residents heading to major cities like Mumbai and Delhi.

"Improved air connectivity could significantly benefit our city," Srivastava stated in his letter. "It would allow Jamshedpur residents to reach major destinations within a day."

In addition, Srivastava mentioned that he had previously communicated this request to the Prime Minister of India. He also enclosed a response from Narendran regarding the matter.

On the other hand, Srivastava emphasized the historical significance of his request. He reminded Tata of the aviation legacy established by J.R.D. Tata and continued by Ratan Tata.

"We hope Mr. Noel Tata will recognize the importance of this service for Jamshedpur," remarked a forum member. "It aligns perfectly with the Tata Group’s commitment to community development."

Meanwhile, the proposal has garnered support from various sectors of Jamshedpur society. Many see it as a crucial step in enhancing the city’s connectivity and economic prospects.

However, the implementation of such a project would require coordination between multiple stakeholders. These include the Tata Group, local authorities, and aviation regulators.

As Noel Tata begins his tenure as Tata Trust Chairman, many in Jamshedpur are hopeful that this proposal will receive due consideration. They see it as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the Tata Group and the city it helped build.
