Jharkhand Basketball League Debuts in Jamshedpur

Six teams to compete in inaugural tournament from October 18-20

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Basketball Association is set to launch the inaugural Jharkhand Basketball League, bringing top-tier basketball action to Jamshedpur for the first time.

The Jharkhand Basketball League (JBL) is scheduled to commence on October 18, 2024.

This groundbreaking tournament will run for three days at the Dhatkidih Community Centre.

Moreover, six teams from across the state will compete for the championship title.

The participating teams include Jamshedpur Jammers, Ranchi Rangers, and East Singhbhum Eagles.

Additionally, Skippers, Clippers, and Ballers will round out the competitive field.

Notably, each team will feature a unique composition of players.

The rosters will include six senior players, three juniors, and three youth players.

This mixed-age format aims to foster versatility and heightened competition.

Harbhajan Singh, JBA President and Olympian, highlighted the tournament’s innovative structure.

Furthermore, the league promises to showcase talent across various age groups.

Matches are scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM each evening.

Interestingly, all games will be live-streamed for basketball enthusiasts nationwide.

JBA Secretary JP Singh announced that cash prizes will be awarded to the champions.

Meanwhile, Saryu Roy, MLA Jamshedpur East, will attend as the chief guest.

Additionally, Sharat Chandran, Director of Kerala Public Schools, will be present as a special guest.

Other key JBA officials, including Pradeep Mukherjee and Arif Aftab, attended the press meet.

A local sports analyst commented, "This league could significantly boost basketball’s popularity in Jharkhand."

In conclusion, the JBL marks a new chapter for basketball development in the state.
