JAMSHEDPUR – The Gujarati Sanatan Samaj’s premises have transformed into a vibrant hub of Navratri festivities, featuring traditional dances and cultural performances.

The oldest Gujarati community organization in the city is buzzing with activity as the nine-day Navratri festival kicks off. Over 700 participants from 16 teams are showcasing their skills in raas, garba, and dandiya.

Moreover, this year’s celebration has a special focus on Hindu culture and values. New additions include performances that highlight stories from Hindu mythology.

On the other hand, the Sri Surat Gujarati Samaj is also organizing nightly Ras Garba and Dandiya performances at the Jalaram Temple in Bistupur.

Meanwhile, traditional rituals of worship and homage to Goddess Durga remain an essential part of the celebrations. Crowds gather each evening for aarti and prayers, seeking blessings for health and prosperity.

In addition, the festive atmosphere is enhanced by the delectable Gujarati delicacies served during the event. Popular items like ‘gathiya’, ‘undhiyu’, ‘phaphra’, and ‘dhokla’ offer a taste of Gujarat’s rich culinary tradition.

However, what makes this celebration truly unique is its inclusivity. A senior functionary of the Gujarati Sanatan Samaj emphasized, "Navratri is not just for Gujaratis; it’s a time when we come together, irrespective of our backgrounds, to celebrate unity, dance, and devotion."

Besides, the organization has been celebrating Navratri for more than eight decades, maintaining the same zeal and enthusiasm as in previous years.
