JAMSHEDPUR – Gulmohur High School has launched an innovative Mothers’ Reading Club to nurture a love for reading among young children in an era dominated by digital screens.

Principal Priti Sinha spearheaded this initiative to address declining reading habits.

The inaugural session was held on September 16, 2024, at the school’s Connect Hub.

Moreover, Sinha emphasized the mother’s role as a child’s first teacher.

She stated, "Mothers reading to children could spark a lifelong love for books."

Furthermore, a training session for volunteer mothers took place on September 19.

Mothers learned interactive techniques like voice modulation and engagement strategies.

Additionally, a grand session at Tata Auditorium on September 28 saw over 200 mothers attend.

The event featured presentations by nursery students’ mothers, including storytelling performances.

Meanwhile, the initiative will continue with monthly Saturday sessions.

This sustained effort aims to empower mothers as role models for reading.

On the other hand, faculty members Gayatri, Sunita, and Natasha coordinate the program.

The club seeks to rekindle the bond between children and books.

In contrast to waning reading habits, this endeavor breathes new life into the joy of reading.

Ultimately, the initiative paves the way for future generations to cherish the written word.
