JAMSHEDPUR – Engineers gathered at Galudih Barrage Dam to commemorate the 57th Engineers Day, honoring the legacy of Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya.
The event took place near the main gate of Galudih Barrage Dam on Sunday.
Engineers from the Subarnarekha Project participated in the celebration.
The occasion marked the 163rd birth anniversary of M. Visvesvaraya, a renowned Indian engineer.
Superintending Engineer Hemant Kumar Rohani and Executive Engineer Santosh led the ceremony.
They, along with junior engineers, offered floral tributes to Visvesvaraya’s statue.
The engineers highlighted Visvesvaraya’s personality and achievements during the event.
Moreover, they emphasized his significant contributions to science and technology.

Hemant Kumar Rohani provided insights into Visvesvaraya’s esteemed status as a great engineer.
He mentioned the Bharat Ratna award bestowed upon Visvesvaraya in 1955.
Furthermore, Rohani explained the origins of Engineers Day.
The Indian government declared Visvesvaraya’s birth date as Engineers Day in 1968.
Since then, Engineers Day has been observed annually on September 15th.
This tradition continues to honor Visvesvaraya’s enduring legacy in engineering.
