Passport Delays Plague Jamshedpur PSK, Chamber Seeks Solutions
SCCI delegation meets Regional Passport Officer to address appointment issues
Key Points:
• Jamshedpur PSK faces 15-30 day appointment delays, unlike nearby cities
• Chamber urges increased capacity from current 90 applications per day
• Regional Passport Officer considers request, emphasizes applicant responsibility
JAMSHEDPUR – The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) addressed prolonged passport appointment delays at the Jamshedpur Passport Seva Kendra with regional officials.
SCCI President Vijay Anand Moonka led a delegation to meet Regional Passport Officer Manita K., IFS, in Ranchi.
The meeting focused on significant delays at the Jamshedpur Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
Moreover, Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia highlighted the stark contrast in processing times.
"Applicants in Jamshedpur face 15 to 30-day waits for appointments," Kedia explained.
Meanwhile, nearby cities like Ranchi and Chaibasa boast quicker processing times.
The Chamber urged an increase in the PSK’s daily application capacity.
Currently, the centre processes 90 applications per day.
However, many applicants fail to show up for their scheduled appointments.
This no-show issue leads to inefficiencies in the system.
On the other hand, the Chamber emphasized the need for public awareness.
They believe increased awareness could help resolve the appointment bottleneck.
In response, the Regional Passport Officer acknowledged the concerns raised.
She assured the delegation that their request for increased capacity would be considered.
Nevertheless, she stressed that reducing delays requires system improvements and applicant responsibility.
The Chamber’s proactive approach highlights the importance of efficient passport services for the region.
