Surprise inspections reveal larvae; hefty fines imposed in affected areas

JAMSHEDPUR – District Magistrate Ananya Mittal has ordered intensified dengue testing and mandated fines for areas where larvae are found in response to rising cases.
Tata Steel Health (Malaria) Department and Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) conducted joint surprise inspections across the city.
Dengue larvae were discovered in various waterlogged areas, including markets, residential complexes, and under-construction sites in Kadma and Sonari.
A substantial fine of Rs 186,200 was imposed in Sitaramdera and Sakchi where larvae were detected.
Anti-larval spraying was immediately carried out in affected areas to prevent further spread of the disease.
Authorities have warned of stricter measures if larvae are found during future inspections.
The inspection team, led by Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar, emphasized the importance of community vigilance.
Residents were informed about preventive measures and urged to stay alert to avoid dengue outbreaks.
The campaign highlights the district’s commitment to public health and disease prevention.
Areas of concern included Murga Line, Khatal, basements, and society premises, underscoring the need for comprehensive surveillance.
