Jharkhand Waives Rs 3,584 Crore Power Dues for 39.44 Lakh Consumers

Cabinet approves DA hike, support for Agniveers’ families in sweeping welfare measures

The Jharkhand cabinet has approved a massive power dues waiver and increased dearness allowance for government employees, signaling a major push for citizen welfare.

RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s cabinet has greenlit a Rs 3,584 crore power dues waiver for 39.44 lakh consumers under the free electricity scheme, alongside other significant welfare measures.

The cabinet’s decision eliminates the need for consumers enrolled in the Mukhyamantri Urja Khushali Yojana to pay arrear bills.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel confirmed the waiver, stating that beneficiaries of the 200-unit free electricity scheme would be relieved of their outstanding dues.

Government employees will see their dearness allowance increase from 230% to 239%, providing substantial financial relief.

The families of martyred Agniveers will receive financial assistance and government job opportunities, a move emphasized by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

These families will be accorded the same respect and support as those of Jharkhand Police personnel.

The initiative aims to honor Agniveers’ sacrifices and ensure long-term support for their dependents through employment and financial aid.

Chief Minister Soren reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of tribals, Dalits, and minorities.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to tackle social issues and provide relief to those in need.

The cabinet approved a total of 44 proposals, marking a significant step in Jharkhand’s reform agenda.

These measures include financial aid for fallen soldiers’ families, job placements for their dependents, and extensive utility bill waivers.

The comprehensive nature of these proposals reflects the government’s strategy to enhance citizen welfare and promote equitable development.
