Jharkhand High Court Questions Officials on Tribal Population Decline

Jharkhand High Court seeks detailed explanation on Bangladeshi infiltration claims

Jharkhand High Court expresses concern over affidavits from six Santal districts regarding tribal population decline and alleged infiltration.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand High Court has raised questions about affidavits submitted by Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from six Santal districts.

The court expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of information on Bangladeshi infiltration and declining tribal population in these areas.

A division bench led by Chief Justice Arun Kumar Rai criticized the delay in responses from Central Government agencies.

The hearing was part of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Daniel Danish.

The court questioned the officials’ claims of no Bangladeshi infiltration in their districts.

It also criticized their failure to address reasons behind the decrease in the tribal population.

The DCs and SPs have been directed to provide detailed explanations on these issues.

The court has requested documentation on Aadhaar and Voter ID card processing in the concerned districts.

Officials are expected to present more comprehensive information in the next hearing.

The next date for hearing the case has been set for September 5.

This case highlights growing concerns about demographic changes in Jharkhand’s tribal areas.
