Jharkhand Launches School Report Card Initiative

State aims to boost academic standards in government schools with new evaluation system

Jharkhand’s education department introduces a comprehensive school report card system to enhance academic quality in state-owned institutions.

RANCHI – Jharkhand’s school education and literacy department has unveiled a new initiative to issue report cards for state-owned schools, aiming to improve academic standards.

The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has finalized the draft for the school report card system.

Under Project Impact, all state schools will conduct self-evaluations to complete their report cards.

Schools will be assessed on a 2000-point scale based on various parameters.

The initial phase will cover 80 Chief Minister Utkrishta Vidyalayas and 325 block-level Adarsh Vidyalayas (model schools).

The department plans to issue score cards for these schools by late August 2024.

Nodal officers have been appointed to monitor and evaluate schools in designated clusters.

A third-party assessment will verify the accuracy of schools’ self-evaluations.

This evaluation process will be repeated monthly, with public score cards issued from August 2024 onward.

The initiative aims to promote transparency, healthy competition, and improved educational quality.

"This system will motivate schools to perform better and increase the responsibility of teachers and administrative staff," a department spokesperson stated.

Schools will be categorized into Gold, Silver, and Bronze certifications based on their performance.

Institutions scoring 1800 or more points will receive a Gold certificate.

The Project Impact program seeks to bring unprecedented change to the educational quality of government schools.

This new report card system is expected to be a transformative step in achieving these educational goals.
