JAMSHEDPUR – Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar has demanded departmental action against IAS officer Aditya Ranjan.
He made this request in a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Education Minister Baidyanath Ram, addressing the media on Saturday.
Uncivil Language Allegations
Dr. Kumar criticized Aditya Ranjan, Director of the Jharkhand Education Project, for using inappropriate language towards teachers.
He stated that such language has no place in a civilized society.
Dr. Kumar also expressed condolences for the victims of the recent natural disaster in Wayanad and the Kanwaris who died in the accident in Latehar, Jharkhand.
Behavioral Changes in Bureaucrats
Dr. Kumar noted a worrying change in the behavior and communication of IAS and IPS officers since 2014, which he believes is detrimental to society and the nation.
He mentioned the misconduct of Maharashtra officer Pooja Khedkar as another example of this trend.
RSS and Civil Services Concerns
Dr. Kumar highlighted concerns raised by RSS-affiliated ‘Sankalp’ in 2016 about the increasing number of doctors and engineers entering civil services.
He criticized the influence of RSS and BJP on prestigious civil service exams and expressed concern for families who aspire to see their children become IAS or IPS officers but lack the financial means for top institutions.
Training and Expected Conduct
Dr. Kumar emphasized that IAS and IPS officers are trained to remain calm and respectful under all circumstances.
Despite this, the inappropriate behavior of some officers is a serious concern.
Impact of Political Leaders
Dr. Kumar observed that the changing language and behavior of BJP leaders seem to influence officers negatively.
He argued that the current central government’s open questioning of people’s caste and religion, and encouragement of specific community boycotts, sets a harmful example.
He assured that such behavior would not be tolerated under the INDIA alliance government.
