Traffic Police Crack Down on Overloading and Drunk Driving in Saraikela

Police impose fines and conduct checks to curb road accidents following directives from senior officials.

Following a spate of road accidents, the Saraikela traffic police launched a campaign against overloading and drunk driving on Wednesday, as directed by the Deputy Commissioner and SP.

GAMHARIA – On Wednesday, the Saraikela traffic police implemented a campaign to combat intoxicated driving and overloading in passenger vehicles in response to the ongoing road accidents. This initiative was directed by the Deputy Commissioner and SP.

Near the Gamharia police station, the police imposed penalties of Rs 6,200 on overloaded passenger vehicles.

A distinct campaign against inebriated driving was implemented in the vicinity of the Kandra Padampur toll plaza.

Drivers were not detected operating under the influence during this operation.

According to Traffic Inspector Rajesh Kumar Singh, the campaign is being implemented in accordance with the directives of senior officials and will persist.

He clarified that the objective is to reduce the number of road accidents, which is on the rise.

He urged drivers and vehicle proprietors to comply with traffic regulations while operating on public roads.
