Assembly’s Last Session Before Elections Witnesses Opposition Protests

Jharkhand Assembly’s monsoon session started with a condolence motion, highlighting the last session before the elections.

RANCHI – The monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly began on Friday, marking the last session before the upcoming assembly elections.

Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto addressed the House, presenting a condolence motion to honor those who passed away since the last session.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Leader of the Opposition Amar Bauri supported the motion.

After the condolence motion, the House was adjourned until 11 AM on Monday.

This session will last for eight days, with six working days.

There will be a break on July 27 and 28 for the weekend, and proceedings will resume on July 29.

On Monday, the government will present the supplementary budget for discussion.

Significant disruptions and confrontations between the ruling party and the opposition are anticipated.

The opposition plans to challenge the government on several pressing issues during the session.

Topics like displacement and drought will also be discussed in detail.

Outside the House, opposition parties, including the BJP, staged protests.

BJP legislators sat with placards, raising slogans against the government.

They accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of supporting illegal businesses and fostering corruption.

They argued that this support is preventing effective control of corruption.
