Workshop launches ‘Back to School Campaign’ to reintegrate out-of-school children

District administration aims to bring 5-18 year olds back into education system through intensive campaign.

JAMSHEDPUR – A one-day workshop on Ruar 2024 (Back to School Campaign) was held at the Town Hall, Sidhgora, under the leadership of District Magistrate Ananya Mittal, focusing on reintegrating dropout children into schools.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders including MLA representatives, education officials, school principals, and Mukhiyas to strategize the campaign running from July 15 to July 31.

"Education is crucial for a child’s personality development. We must ensure no child is deprived of this right," Mittal emphasized during his address to the participants.

The District Magistrate called for creating an engaging school environment to encourage regular attendance and urged for localized solutions to address area-specific challenges.

Mittal suggested forming committees comprising local leaders, educators, and parents to collectively tackle the issue of school dropouts.

Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar highlighted the administration’s commitment to providing better educational opportunities, especially for children from weaker sections.

"We encourage all teachers and Panchayat representatives to foster a progressive environment ensuring no child remains absent from school," Kumar stated.

The workshop discussed implementing various state government schemes including scholarships, the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana, and mid-day meals to motivate children’s return to school.

Regional Education Joint Director Nirmala Bareilly and District Education Officer Manoj Kumar were among the key officials present at the event.

The campaign aligns with the new education policy and the Right to Child Education Act, mandating compulsory schooling for children aged 5 to 18 years.

Participants explored strategies to identify and re-enroll children who have either dropped out or never attended school.

The district administration’s initiative reflects a concerted effort to ensure universal access to education and combat dropout rates in the region.

This workshop marks a significant step towards achieving the goals of inclusive education and reducing the number of out-of-school children in the district.
