Exercise reveals areas for improvement in tear gas deployment and public interaction.

JAMSHEDPUR – The city police conducted a comprehensive mock drill at Golmuri Police Lines on Tuesday, focusing on crowd control techniques in preparation for Muharram.

“This exercise tests our readiness to handle potential unrest during the festival,” stated a senior police officer.

Key components of the training included:

– Appropriate use of batons, tear gas, and water cannons

– Techniques for controlling aggressive crowds

– Proper barricading and public movement control

– Guidance on public interaction during tense situations

Rural SP cum Acting City SP Rishabh Garg also attended the exercise.

“We identified several areas for improvement, particularly in tear gas deployment,” a police officer noted.

The drill involved district police, JAP 6, and QRT team members.

Officers alternated roles between rioters and law enforcement to simulate realistic scenarios.

SSP Kaushal and SP Garg provided hands-on guidance and equipment checks during the exercise.

This training aims to ensure effective crowd management and minimize potential unrest during Muharram observances.
