Tragic Bus Accident Claims 3 Lives in Ranchi District

Wedding Party Journey Turns Fatal as Vehicle Contacts Electric Wire

Incident in Chogagutu village underscores dangers of overloading and need for improved rural infrastructure.

RANCHI – A joyous wedding celebration turned tragic when three people lost their lives after a bus carrying wedding guests came into contact with an electric wire in Ranchi district.

The accident occurred late Sunday night in Chogagutu village, under the jurisdiction of Tamar police station.

Dinesh Singh Munda (36), Munda (25), and Jiten Singh Munda (12) were identified as the deceased, all of whom were seated on the bus roof.

Five other passengers sustained serious burn injuries and were initially treated at a local hospital before being transferred to RIMS in Ranchi.

The ill-fated bus was en route from Baruhatu village in Seraikela district to Chogagutu village for a wedding ceremony.

Approximately 80 to 90 guests were on board the bus, with some passengers seated on the roof despite safety risks.

The incident caused panic among the wedding party, but quick action allowed for the safe evacuation of remaining passengers.

Despite the tragedy, elders from both families decided to proceed with the wedding ceremony as planned.

This accident highlights the ongoing issues of overloaded vehicles and inadequate rural infrastructure in the region.

Local authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
