Investigation into Crane Operator’s Death at Tata Steel Ongoing on Multiple Levels

Compensation and Job Assurance Provided by Company Management

The tragic death of crane operator Naresh Prasad at Tata Steel’s Cold Rolling Mill is currently under investigation on multiple fronts.

JAMSHEDPUR – The untimely death of Naresh Prasad, a crane operator at Tata Steel’s Cold Rolling Mill, is being thoroughly investigated on two levels.

The company management and the union are conducting a joint investigation, while a government factory inspector team is also looking into the incident.

The company has assured that Prasad’s family will receive job assurance and compensation.

Details of the Investigation

On Saturday, factory inspector Dhirendra Munda conducted an investigation at the Tata Steel premises.

He has requested several documents, diagrams, maps, and other necessary items from the management, which are to be provided within a week.

The preliminary investigation report has been sent to the Chief Factory Inspector, who may also visit for further inspection.

The investigation team revisited the accident site to understand the circumstances leading to Prasad’s fall.

They are examining how the incident occurred while Prasad was performing his routine work.

The management and union teams have reviewed all aspects, including potential lapses in safety measures and ways to enhance the working area’s security.

Initial findings suggest that the accident happened due to a loss of balance, as the area is blocked on three sides and open on the working side, from where Prasad fell.
