Jugsalai Pushes for On-Site Waste Management by Bulk Generators

Municipal Council Meeting Emphasizes Composting and Sustainable Practices

Local establishments urged to handle wet waste on premises in line with Swachh Bharat Mission goals.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jugsalai Municipal Council held a crucial meeting at its office auditorium, focusing on improving waste management practices among bulk waste generators.

"Our aim is to make Jugsalai a model for sustainable waste management," stated the Executive Officer of Jugsalai Municipal Council.

Key Directives

Bulk generators producing 50-100 kg of wet waste daily must implement on-site composting.

Dry waste should be handed over to door-to-door collection vehicles provided by the council.

Mandatory waste separation at source was emphasized to streamline disposal.

Participants and Attendees

Representatives from hotels, restaurants, hospitals, marriage halls, and residential societies were present.

Notable attendees included Hotel Raj Rasoi, A.B. Palace, Royal Marriage Hall, and Gurudwara Managing Committee.

Key municipal officials, including the City Manager and Sanitation Expert, participated in the discussions.

Sustainable Practices

The 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) was promoted for overall waste reduction.

Strategies for creating zero-waste events in hotels and marriage halls were discussed.

Detailed guidelines on managing organic waste, including food scraps and vegetable peels, were provided.

This initiative aligns with the Swachh Survey 2024 under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0, aiming to create a cleaner urban environment.

The meeting fostered dialogue on challenges in waste disposal, encouraging collaborative solutions among stakeholders.
