Six Youths Drown in Subarnarekha River; Two Dead, Four Escape

Tragic drowning incident in Subarnarekha River leaves two youths dead; families and locals gather in grief.

A tragic incident occurred this afternoon in the Subarnarekha River near Kandrabeda-Pudisili under Kapali OP of Seraikela-Kharsawan district, where six youths from Jamshedpur drowned while bathing, while four somehow managed to come out, two ultimately died.

JAMSHEDPUR – Six youths from Green Valley of Mango-Azad Nagar Road No. 12 in Jamshedpur went to bathe in the Subarnarekha River this afternoon. While bathing, they ventured into deep water, leading to the drowning of all six.

During the struggle, they tried to save each other by holding hands. Four of them managed to escape, but Mohammad Pappu and Idwan tragically drowned.

Eyewitnesses reported that five youths initially came out of the water, but Mohammad Pappu re-entered the river to save Idwan. Unfortunately, both succumbed to the depths and drowned.

Upon hearing the news, family members of Idwan and Mohammad Pappu, along with hundreds of Azad Nagar residents, rushed to the riverbank. The Kapali police immediately started a search operation.

Idwan’s body was recovered and sent to TMH, where he was declared dead by doctors. The search for Mohammad Pappu’s body is still ongoing, with police and locals combing the area.

This incident has caused a significant stir in the community, highlighting the dangers of bathing in deep and unpredictable river waters.
