Women Pray for Husbands’ Long Life, Perform Rituals Under Banyan Trees
Married women in various areas of the Chakradharpur district, including Chakradharpur, Chaibasa, Sonua, Karaikela, Kera, and Chainpur, observed Vat Savitri Vrat on Thursday.
CHAKRADHARPUR – Married women across the West Singhbhum district gathered to observe the auspicious Vat Savitri Vrat, praying for the long life and well-being of their husbands.
In Chakradharpur, fasting women congregated under Banyan trees at multiple locations, including near the Forest Department’s check post, the block office, Rani Talab, and the telephone office.
They performed traditional rituals as part of the worship.
Local Pandits narrated the story of Savitri Vrat, enhancing the spiritual ambiance of the occasion.
Vat Savitri Vrat is an essential fast for married women, observed annually on the Amavasya date of Krishna Paksha in the Jyeshtha month.
On this day, married women undertake a rigorous fast without water, praying for a happy and prosperous married life.
A local woman, participating in the rituals, expressed, “This fast is significant for us. It symbolizes our devotion and prayers for our husbands’ longevity and happiness.”
The community came together in a show of faith and tradition, underscoring the cultural importance of Vat Savitri Vrat in the region.
