Election Commission Takes Measures to Boost Voting Percentage; Seizure of Illegal Materials and Cash Totals Rs 1.195 Billion

The Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar announced that the deployment of polling personnel for the fifth phase of voting has commenced, with efforts to increase voter turnout and substantial seizures of illegal materials and cash.

RANCHI – Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar stated that the departure of polling personnel for the fifth phase of voting has begun.

This process will be completed by Sunday.

Voting for the fifth phase is scheduled for May 20 in Chatra, Hazaribagh, and Koderma.

Kumar mentioned that 148 polling workers and sector officers have been dispatched to polling booths in Latehar and Chatra via heli dropping.

He made these remarks during a conversation with Media at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Saturday.

In the fourth phase of elections, women outnumbered men in voting.

Kumar highlighted that women surpassed men in voter turnout in Singhbhum, Khunti, Lohardaga, and Palamu.

In Singhbhum, 10,03,482 votes were cast, representing 69.32 percent of the total voters.

Women cast 5,14,639 votes, which is 69.93 percent.

Men cast 4,88,836 votes, or 68.69 percent.

In Seraikela, one of the six assembly constituencies, men’s voting percentage was higher than women’s.

In Khunti, 9,27,422 votes were cast, accounting for 69.93 percent of the total voters.

Women cast 4,76,292 votes, or 70.50 percent.

Men cast 4,51,127 votes, or 69.35 percent.

In Tamar, the voting percentage of men was higher than women.

In Lohardaga, 9,57,690 votes were cast, making up 66.45 percent of the total voters.

Women cast 4,99,182 votes, or 68.63 percent.

Men cast 4,58,507 votes, or 64.22 percent.

In all five assembly constituencies, women’s voting percentage exceeded men’s.

In Palamu, 13,74,358 votes were cast, representing 61.27 percent of the total voters.

Women cast 6,96,787 votes, or 64.51 percent.

Men cast 6,77,570 votes, or 64.10 percent.

In Daltonganj, men’s voting percentage was higher than women’s.

The Election Commission is focused on increasing voter turnout.

Kumar stated that various measures are being taken to raise public awareness.

Efforts include miking and mobilization to bring voters to polling booths.

Measures have been taken to speed up voting to minimize waiting times.

Three voters are being allowed to enter the polling station simultaneously to vote.

At booths with more than 1200 voters, an additional polling worker is being deployed to prevent long queues and increase voting speed.

Reserve polling personnel will be deployed as needed.

Kumar urged voters to note their serial number on the voter list and bring it when voting to avoid unnecessary delays.

If the Voter Information Slip has not reached the voter, they can use the Voter Helpline App to find their serial number.

Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, Rs 1.195 billion in illegal materials and cash have been seized.
