Jamshedpur Citizen Loses ₹50,000 to Online Fraudsters

Deception Leads to Significant Financial Loss for Local; Police Pursue Culprit

In Jamshedpur, Priyajit Chatterjee from ECC Flat experienced a significant loss when tricksters illegally transferred ₹50,000 out of his bank account. This theft has prompted legal action and a police inquiry at the local Kadma station.

JAMSHEDPUR – A deceptive communication led Priyajit Chatterjee, from ECC Flat, to lose ₹50,000 to internet swindlers, initiating an official complaint at the Kadma station.

The theft occurred after Chatterjee was misled by a fake alert on April 26, claiming his bank account lacked necessary verifications, which could interrupt his banking activities. This fraudulent notification included a hyperlink supposedly for updating his details.

Clicking the hyperlink took Chatterjee to a counterfeit site that imitated the look of SBI’s online banking page, where he was deceived into submitting a security code sent to his phone.

Immediately after this security code was entered, the said funds were deducted from his bank account.

In response, Chatterjee lodged a legal complaint against the contact number associated with the fraudulent message, prompting the Kadma station to begin a probe to apprehend those responsible.
