Thousands Dance to Traditional Beats, Seek Blessings for Community Prosperity and Nature’s Preservation
On Thursday, the streets of Jamshedpur came alive with a grand and vibrant Sarhul procession organized by the Central Sarhul Puja Committee. The procession, led by Chief Licensee Gangaram Tirkey, commenced from the tribal Oraon Samaj premises in Old Sitaramdera and captivated thousands of spectators along its route.
JAMSHEDPUR – The city of Jamshedpur witnessed a spectacular display of tribal culture and festivity as a grand Sarhul procession, organized by the Central Sarhul Puja Committee, made its way through the streets on Thursday.
The procession, led by Chief Licensee Gangaram Tirkey, commenced from the tribal Oraon Samaj premises in Old Sitaramdera, drawing thousands of enthusiastic spectators along its path.
The vibrant procession traversed through various landmarks of the city, including Lako Bodra Chowk, Sitaramdera Police Station, and Agrico Light Signal Chowk.
As it made its way through Bhalubasa, Kumhar Pada, Ramleela Maidan, Sakchi Main Roundabout, Basant Cinema Road, Kalimati Road, Tuiladungri Roundabout, and Golmuri, the procession captivated onlookers with its colorful and lively atmosphere.
The procession culminated at the Sitaramdera Adivasi Oraon Samaj Bhawan, where a congregation was held to mark the occasion.
Earlier in the morning, prayers of Chala Ayo were conducted at various Sarna places across the city, attracting devotees from the early hours.
The worshippers sought blessings for the prosperity and well-being of the tribal community, as well as the preservation of nature’s greenery.
As the tribal community flooded the streets during the Sarhul procession, the city seemed to pause in admiration of the vibrant display of culture and tradition.
Thousands of participants danced to the rhythmic beats of Nagara, Mandar, Dholak, and Jhal, while waving Sarna flags and exchanging Diuri Sakhua flowers as a symbol of love and brotherhood.
Prominent tribal leaders, including Budhu Bhumij, Mahavir Kujur, Budhram Toppo, Gopal Topno, Laxman Minj, and Anadi Oraon, led Chala Ayo worship ceremonies at different locations throughout the city, adding to the spiritual significance of the occasion.
The procession was characterized by graceful and rhythmic dances performed to the beat of various percussion instruments, accompanied by melodious folk songs that enunciated the traditional values of the tribal community.
The vibrant celebratory mood spread the spirit of festivity along the streets of Jamshedpur, much to the delight of the large number of spectators who thronged the routes to witness the spectacular event.
