Dalma Raja to Announce Sendra Date, Aiming for Greater Women Participation
Dalma Raja Rakesh Hembram gathers villagers to discuss the traditional Sendra festival, with plans to announce its date after a key meeting.
JAMSHEDPUR – Rakesh Hembram, known as Dalma Raja, held a preparatory meeting in Gadda with the local tribal community to discuss the annual Sendra festival, emphasizing its significance and the involvement of various tribal leaders in the decision-making process.
The meeting aimed at setting the stage for a larger assembly with Munda, Manki, Dakua, and Majhi Pargana Mahal scheduled for April 12, where the Sendra festival date will be determined.
During the April 12 gathering, after consulting with all stakeholders, Dalma Raja will perform traditional rituals to honor the deities, culminating in the official announcement of the Sendra festival’s date. Following this, invitations will be sent out to Sendra warriors across regions.
With an expectation of hundreds of warriors participating, Dalma Raja has highlighted a special focus on increasing women’s involvement in this year’s festivities.
Women are encouraged to actively engage by monitoring Forest Department checkpoints to facilitate the warriors’ smooth access to Dalma, marking a significant step towards inclusivity in the festival’s traditions.
