Unique Protest Highlights College Safety Concerns
In a remarkable display of concern for their safety, students of Jamshedpur Workers College attended classes wearing helmets, signaling the urgent need for infrastructural repairs and proactive government intervention.
JAMSHEDPUR – Students at Jamshedpur Workers College have escalated their protest against unsafe infrastructural conditions by attending classes wearing helmets, spotlighting the urgent need for governmental action.
Following repeated incidents of structural deterioration, students chose this unique form of demonstration to voice their concerns.
Rajesh Mahato of the AJSU Student Union expressed dismay at the lack of response from HRD and Kolhan University officials, despite continuous media reports on the matter.
"This demonstration is a stark illustration of the risks we face every day," remarked a concerned student.
"The neglect of our educational infrastructure is a blatant disregard for our safety and future," said another participant.
Previously, students had locked down the college to draw attention to their grievances, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
Efforts to communicate the dire state of the college to local leaders, MLAs, and ministers have, so far, been unfruitful.
The student union’s proposal to allocate land for a new campus was overlooked, further aggravating the situation.
Disappointment and frustration have led the AJSU Student Union to consider seeking the intervention of higher authorities.
Plans are underway to meet with the local MLA and Minister, with the possibility of appealing to the Governor if necessary.
A spectator noted, "Their helmets are a powerful symbol of the dangers they face in pursuit of education."
Another added, "It’s high time for action; the future of our students cannot be compromised."
