New adventure tourism feature in Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary offers an elevated bridge walk for visitors.
Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary introduces canopy walk to boost tourism and provide unique wildlife observation opportunities.
JAMSHEDPUR – Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is set to enhance its adventure tourism offerings with the introduction of a canopy walk, slated for launch by the end of the month. This new attraction, featuring a 15-feet-high bridge, aims to provide an exhilarating experience for visitors, connecting two points within the sanctuary for an approximate cost of Rs 250 per traverse.
Constructed with an investment of Rs 40 lakh, the canopy walk is designed to boost tourism in Dalma, allowing guests to enjoy birdwatching and the natural landscape from an elevated perspective. The wooden bridge facilitates an up-close view of the sanctuary’s diverse avian species, catering to both adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts.
The government-funded project emphasizes safety, limiting access to five to six individuals at a time to ensure a secure experience. DFO Dr. Abhishek Kumar highlighted the initiative’s dual goals of increasing tourist visits while promoting environmental stewardship.
This initiative represents a first for Jharkhand, drawing inspiration from similar successful canopy walks in regions like Karnataka, and is expected to significantly contribute to the sanctuary’s appeal as a destination for adventure and wildlife tourism.
