Elephant Clash Claims Life in Ghatshila Jungle

Territorial Dispute Between Wild Elephants Leads to Death Near Makuli Village

A violent clash over territory between two elephant herds in Ghatshila forest results in the death of a young male elephant, prompting forest department action.

JAMSHEDPUR – Following the tragic incident, the forest department is intensively observing both elephant herds to prevent further conflicts.

Plans for conducting a post-mortem and cremating the deceased elephant were set for Wednesday, as the movement of the herds shifted towards Jhantijharna late Tuesday night.

Forest officials, including DFO Dhalbhum Mamta Priyadarshi and Ranger Vimal Kumar, faced challenges assessing the situation due to the proximity of the agitated elephants.

The presence of the elephants near the incident site has hindered forest department personnel from performing necessary procedures.

Several trees were reported damaged in the vicinity where the elephant herds clashed, indicating the intensity of the confrontation.

The remaining elephants have displayed signs of restlessness and aggression since the fight, which took place near Makuli village in the dense Ghatshila jungle.

A conflict over territorial rights between two herds led to a fierce fight, resulting in the death of a male elephant aged between five and six.

The skirmish between the wild elephants in Ghatshila forest highlights the fierce territorial instincts among these majestic creatures.
