Tata Steel Sport Climbing 2024 Kicks Off with Fanfare

International Athletes Join India’s Largest Climbing Event at JRD Tata Sports Complex

In a spectacular ceremony blending Republic Day celebrations with elite sportsmanship, the Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship 2024 commenced at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) has become the epicenter of international sport climbing with the inauguration of the Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship 2024.

Featuring over 300 athletes, including international participants from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Nepal, this event has set a new benchmark in India’s climbing events.

The championship, spanning January 26-29, is hosted at the TSAF Sport Climbing Arena, a top-tier facility within the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Athletes from various age groups and categories, including Kids, Youth A, Youth B, Youth C, Youth D, and Open, will compete in Speed, Lead, and Bouldering events.

More than 30 officials from India and abroad are present, highlighting the championship’s significance in the international climbing community.

The opening ceremony was enhanced by the presence of prominent dignitaries including Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Service), Tata Steel and Ujjal Chakraborti, Managing Director, JCAPCPL.

The mascot ‘ARIA’ for the Tata Steel Sport Climbing Championship was unveiled, adding a unique touch to the event.

Hemant Gupta, Head of TSAF & Sports Academies, Tata Steel, and other key figures attended the inauguration, signaling strong support from the corporate sector.

Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief (Sports), Tata Steel, and Vibhuti Adesara, Head of Training Centre & Events, Tata Steel were also present at the opening ceremony.
