Request for January 22 State Holiday and Dry Day for Ram Mandir Event
The Jharkhand BJP has officially requested a state holiday on January 22 for the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, reflecting the event’s national significance and religious reverence.
RANCHI – In a significant development, the BJP in Jharkhand has appealed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren for the declaration of January 22 as a state holiday, coinciding with the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
This request, spearheaded by BJP leader and the opposition leader in the Jharkhand assembly, Amar Kumar Bauri, aims to honor Lord Ram, a figure of immense reverence globally.
Bauri emphasized the historical importance of January 22, marking it as a day when the world will witness a monumental event in India’s history.
The BJP’s proposal also includes a call for January 22 to be a “dry day”, echoing a letter sent earlier by BJP Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash.
Prakash’s letter, dated January 12, had requested a ban on liquor and meat sales for the day.
This move follows similar declarations by several BJP-ruled states, including Uttar Pradesh, recognizing the day as a state holiday.
In parallel, the Central government has announced a half-day closure of all central offices on January 22, underlining the event’s widespread significance.
This decision by the Central government came after considerable employee sentiment and requests, allowing for participation in the historic Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha ceremony.
