Authorities Enforce Strict Measures Following Bird Flu Confirmation in Ranchi Area
Following a confirmed case of bird flu in Hotwar, Ranchi, local authorities have implemented a stringent ban on the sale and purchase of chicken products and eggs within a one-kilometer radius of the outbreak.
JAMSHEDPUR – In response to the bird flu outbreak in Hotwar, Ranchi, a complete prohibition has been put on the trading of live and dead poultry and eggs in the surrounding area.
Approximately 1800 hens and 400 ducks were reported in the vicinity before the enforcement of the ban.
Sanath Pandit, Director of the Animal Health Institute in Kanke, announced the formation of a team to oversee the safe disposal of the infected birds.
The disposal process is actively underway, with measures in place to curb any further spread of the virus.
Dr. Ganesh Ram Mahali, from the regional poultry farm, highlighted the necessity of public education on bird flu and advised against the consumption of chicken as a precaution.
To date, 1697 eggs and 1800 birds have been safely disposed of, and extensive sanitation measures are being carried out at the farm.
In light of the outbreak, the farm will not introduce any new birds for the next three months to ensure containment and safety.
Health experts, including Dr. Manoj Kumar from RIMS, have emphasized the risk bird flu poses not only to birds but also to humans, urging the community, particularly children, to exercise caution.
