Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Eyes Key Seats for Lok Sabha Polls, Includes ST Reserves
In a significant move, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has laid claim to seven crucial Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand, including four reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs), in the upcoming elections.
RANCHI – During the Saturday India Alliance meeting in Delhi, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) made a decisive claim for seven Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand.
This claim includes four constituencies reserved for Scheduled Tribes: Rajmahal, Dumka, West Singhbhum, and Lohardaga.
Additionally, JMM has set its sights on Giridih, Koderma, and Jamshedpur.
JMM’s assertion stems from its strong presence and historical influence in these areas, as articulated by the party representatives.
The party has been a staunch advocate for Greater Jharkhand, a cause championed by Shibu Soren since its inception.
JMM’s electoral ambitions also extend to certain Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar, reflecting its broader regional aspirations.
Furthermore, JMM has staked a claim on the Kokrajhar seat in Assam.
A conclusive meeting regarding seat sharing, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is scheduled before January 30, where final decisions on seat distribution will be made.
Representing JMM in the meeting were Central Vice President Champai Soren, General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey, Supriyo Bhattacharya, and MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu.
Congress participants included State President Rajesh Thakur and ministers like Alamgir Alam, Mukul Wasnik, Salman Khurshid, Ashok Gehlot, and Mohan Prakash.
The meeting also saw discussions involving RJD and Left parties, allies in the election, who are also vying for Lok Sabha seats.
A notable point of contention is the Singhbhum seat, currently held by Congress’s Geeta Koda, despite JMM’s dominance in the constituency’s assembly seats.
