Ranchi is abuzz with excitement as the FIH Olympic Hockey Qualifiers approach, with teams from eight nations vying for a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Spectators can enjoy free entry to witness this thrilling sporting event, where top teams will emerge victorious in the quest for Olympic glory.

RANCHI – The air in Ranchi is electrifying with anticipation for the upcoming FIH Olympic Hockey Qualifiers, commencing this Saturday, January 13.

The Jaipal Singh Munda Astroturf Stadium in Marang Gomke, Morabadi, will be the battleground where eight women’s teams, including host India, will compete fiercely.

India’s journey in the qualifiers will kick off with a high-stakes match against the USA at 7:30 pm.

Earlier in the day, Germany and Chile will inaugurate the event with a noon face-off.

This sequence of matches continues with Japan versus the Czech Republic and New Zealand clashing with Italy.

A sense of pride and opportunity fills the city as the Indian team, placed in Pool B, aims for its third consecutive Olympic qualification.

Pool A features Germany, Japan, Chile, and the Czech Republic, showcasing a diverse and competitive lineup.

The city’s excitement is palpable, heightened by Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan’s presence at the India-USA match and the free entry for spectators.

Ranchi’s commitment to hockey is further solidified by this being the second consecutive international tournament it hosts, following the successful Asian Women’s Hockey championship.

Security and Logistics

The Ranchi district administration has meticulously planned for seamless event management and security.

Detailed guidelines have been issued to ensure orderly conduct and safety at the stadium.

The division of the area into 14 zones, each supervised by dedicated police officers and magistrates, highlights the thoroughness of these preparations.

Crowd Management and Emergency Response

Emphasizing safety, SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha revealed the deployment of four Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and 1500 personnel.

These measures are in place to manage crowds effectively and to swiftly address any emergencies.

Stadium Accessibility and Facilities

The stadium’s entry and parking arrangements have been strategically designed for different categories of attendees.

From VIPs to general spectators, each has designated entry points and parking areas, ensuring an organized and smooth flow of people.

Tournament and Qualification Details

The tournament’s structure is set to foster intense competition, with the top teams from each pool advancing to the semi-finals.

The coveted prize: a spot in the Paris Olympics, is within reach for the top three teams, adding to the event’s high stakes.
