Jharkhand to Acquire New Chartered Plane for Rs 90 Crore

State Government Plans Rs 90 Crore Expenditure on New Aircraft for Officials

Jharkhand’s move to spend Rs 90 crore on a new chartered plane aims to reduce rental burdens and enhance state transport facilities.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand government, in a strategic move to enhance its aviation resources, has taken steps towards purchasing a new chartered aircraft.

This initiative, costing approximately Rs 90 crore, is designed to provide an efficient transport solution for the Chief Minister, other ministers, and senior state officials.

Currently, the state government relies on rented aircraft, which has led to significant financial burdens due to fluctuating rental rates set by private companies.

To counter this, the Civil Aviation Department has formulated a proposal for acquiring a modern, small, 5-7 seater plane.

Seeking to streamline this process, the Department has requested approval from the Finance Department.

The existing arrangement involves hiring a helicopter on a permanent lease, maintained by the owning company and used by the government as needed.

This lease is set to expire in March, prompting plans for a renewed five-year rental agreement.

To facilitate this, the Civil Aviation Department is conducting a tender process for the helicopter’s hire.

By investing in its own aircraft, the Jharkhand government aims to alleviate the high costs incurred from continuous rentals and provide a stable, efficient mode of transportation for its top officials.
