Jharkhand HC Extends Stay on Ex-Deputy Commissioner

Former Deoghar DC’s Coercive Action Stay Extended by HC

The Jharkhand High Court extends the stay on coercive action against Manjunath Bhajantri, former Deputy Commissioner of Deoghar, until January 24, 2024.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court has recently made a significant decision in the case involving the former Deputy Commissioner of Deoghar, Manjunath Bhajantri.

The court has prolonged the suspension of any coercive action against Bhajantri until their next session on January 24, 2024.

This development follows a petition filed by Bhajantri seeking to invalidate the zero FIR lodged against him, which is tied to an incident involving MP Nishikant Dubey.

The origins of this legal entanglement trace back to August 2022, when Dubey was stopped at Deoghar airport during his travel to Delhi.

In response, a zero FIR was registered in Delhi against Bhajantri, accusing him of instructing airport security to mistreat, detain, and threaten Dubey.

Bhajantri has firmly refuted these claims, labeling them as unfounded.

His petition, which called for the annulment of the zero FIR, has led the Jharkhand High Court to continue the stay on any coercive measures against him.

This extension reflects the ongoing complexity of the case and underscores the significance of the allegations and their implications in the political and legal realms.
