National Metallurgical Laboratory Marks 74th Foundation Day with Awards and Speeches

Reflecting on 74 years of scientific advancement, the CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory commemorated its Foundation Day with award presentations and insightful speeches, emphasizing innovation and sustainability.

JAMSHEDPUR – The CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory’s 74th Foundation Day concluded with a display of national pride as Aditya Mainak, the institute’s Administrative Officer, expressed his gratitude to all attendees.

He capped off the event with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and progress.

The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour bestowed awards on worthy individuals, celebrating their exceptional contributions in various scientific fields.

Recognized for their pioneering work in lithium-ion battery recycling, Dr. Manis Kumar Jha and his team received the esteemed Prof. V.A. Altekar Award.

This accolade honors the most innovative technology licensed or commercialized in the past year.

Dr. C.K. Asnani, Chairman cum Managing Director of Uranium Corporation India Ltd., delivered an insightful speech focusing on the role of innovative strategies in sustainable economic growth.

He covered a range of topics including sustainable ventures, industrial waste management, and the significance of knowledge-based economies.

Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, applauded NML’s contributions to critical metals research, underscoring the CSIR’s commitment to advancing science for national benefit.

Dr. Indranil Chattoraj, former Director of CSIR-NML and the esteemed Guest of Honour, took the audience on a nostalgic journey, celebrating the institute’s legacy in Minerals, Metals, and Materials research.

He reflected on seven decades of groundbreaking success and innovation.

Dr. N.C. Murmu, Director of CSIR-NML, opened the event with a speech that highlighted the institute’s substantial impact on national science and technology development over seventy years.

The event commenced with a dignified lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the start of a reflective and celebratory day.
