Senior Citizen Table Tennis Tournament Concludes at JRD Tata Sports Complex

Tata Steel Sports Department Hosts Successful Senior Citizen TT Event

The Senior Citizen Fun & Fitness League table tennis competition, organized by Tata Steel Sports Department, concluded at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Sports Department successfully wrapped up its Senior Citizen Fun & Fitness League table tennis event at the TT Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation and camaraderie among the senior citizens.

L N Mitra, aged 74, emerged as a standout player, clinching victories in both the Singles and Doubles categories. In the doubles match, Mitra and his partner, Satwaran Singh (70), triumphed over Saanjay Datta (58) and Amar Chand (70). The singles final saw Mitra securing victory against Gokul Kumar (65), while Sanjay Datta (58) took home the third singles award.

Notable attendees included Air Vice-Marshal (Retd.) Dr. Sudhir Rai and Tripty Roy, the former Chief Ethics Councilor at Tata Steel, adding prestige to the event.

The tournament was expertly officiated by national umpire Sandip Das and Apurba Dasgupta, coach at the TT Centre.

This table tennis event marks the third activity in the Senior Citizen Fun & Fitness League series, following successful Badminton and Yoga events. The meet was organized by Vibhuti Dhand Adesara, Head of Sports (Training Centre & Event Management), Dinesh Rakshit, Manager Sports, Neelam Kumari, and Arvind Prasad, showcasing the department’s commitment to promoting sports and wellness among senior citizens.
