Massive Theft in Mango During Chhath; Residents Protest Against Police Inaction
Burglary during Chhath Puja in Mango’s Mahavir Colony leads to community outrage.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a shocking incident in Mahavir Colony under Ulidih police station in Mango, a family was robbed of their belongings worth lakhs while they were away celebrating Chhath Puja at Dimna Lake.
The house of Uday Singh was targeted by thieves who broke in and stole gold jewelry and cash, leaving the family in despair.
Uday Singh discovered the theft upon returning from the morning rituals at Dimna Lake.
The thieves had forced entry by breaking the main door, subsequently ransacking almirahs and a box bed to loot the valuables.
The family’s loss included gold jewelry worth approximately ten lakhs and around sixty thousand rupees in cash.
The timing of the theft was particularly distressing, as Uday’s son’s engagement was scheduled just two days later.
The incident has sparked widespread anger and protests in the community.
BJP leader Vikas Singh, who visited the affected family, reported the crime and highlighted the lack of police action in the area.
When local police arrived at the scene, residents expressed their frustration, citing a history of unaddressed thefts and criminal activities in the locality.
The residents, led by Singh and other community members, criticized the lack of police patrolling and the prevalence of brown sugar, ganja, and heroin trade in the area.
They accused the police of negligence and failing to provide security, especially during the festival season.
The community’s anger was palpable, with slogans raised against the police and talks of organizing a ‘Halla Bol’ program at the Ulidih police station if the culprits are not apprehended and the stolen items not recovered.
The locals said that this incident has highlighted the urgent need for effective law enforcement and community safety measures in Mango, especially during significant festivals like Chhath Puja.
