Bhajantri Calls for Proper Marketing of Artifacts, Preservation of Crafts in Bistupur

Deputy Commissioner’s visit to Kala Mandir emphasizes the importance of local artisans, calls for action

JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri visited Kala Mandir in Bistupur to view artwork made by local artisans.

The showcased artwork includes traditional crafts like Matikala, Paitkar painting, Dokra, Vadya Yantra Banam, Dhol, Nagada, and Mandar.

Bhajantri expressed his belief that there is no lack of skill among local artisans.

He emphasized the need for proper market creation and marketing strategies to ensure fair prices for the artisans’ work.

The District administration was directed to prepare an action plan to preserve and promote these crafts, reflecting the cultural heritage of the region.

Bhajantri also expressed his desire to visit the villages of artisans, particularly Andharjhor in Bodam block, known for manufacturing musical instruments.

The District Entrepreneur Coordinator was instructed to collaborate with the handicrafts promotion officer for the further promotion of local handicrafts.

Lastly, Bhajantri reassured that efforts will be made to provide a proper place for performance of arts by craftsmen, dramatists, and artists, enriching the local cultural landscape.
