Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests Clerk Accepting ₹1.4 Lakh Bribe

ACB Jamshedpur apprehends S Kumar, an Accounts Clerk, red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹1.40 lakh.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jamshedpur made a significant move on Wednesday, apprehending S Kumar, an Accounts Clerk with the Rural Works Department of Chakradharpur, red-handed as he accepted a bribe of ₹1.40 lakh.

The incident is tied to the construction of a PCC road from Devendra Manjhi Chowk to Madan Gop’s house in Goptola village, part of Dubli Panchayat in Manoharpur.

The road construction project had been tendered out, but the formal agreement with the contractor had yet to be executed due to undisclosed reasons.

S Kumar had demanded a bribe of ₹1.40 lakh from contractor Avinash Kumar Sirka of Manjhari, to facilitate the road construction agreement.

Upon expressing his inability to pay the bribe, Sirka was pressured by the department, indicating that the agreement would not proceed without payment.

Facing this pressure, Sirka reported the situation to the Monitoring Department in Jamshedpur.

Responding to the complaint, the Vigilance Department assembled a team, which arrested S Kumar while he was accepting the bribe from the contractor.

Post-arrest, Kumar was taken to Jamshedpur for questioning by the Vigilance Department.

The action taken by the ACB has caused quite a stir within the department.
