MLA Saryu Roy dispels rumours of an arrest warrant against him in a defamation case filed by Health Minister Banna Gupta.
JAMSHEDPUR – Saryu Roy, MLA for Jamshedpur East, has dispelled rumors about an arrest warrant issued against him in a complaint case filed by Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta for not presenting himself in the court.
In a detailed press statement, he clarified that he had not received any summons or warrant from the Bistupur police station.
The court has set the next hearing date for July 21, 2023, and he assured that he would be present in court.
Roy provided a screenshot from the E Courts Services app, clearly showing the case details and status to prove his point.

In his statement dated June 29, 2023, Roy addressed the spread of false rumors about his arrest warrant in some WhatsApp groups.
Upon contacting the in-charge of the Bistupur police station in Jamshedpur, he confirmed that no summons or arrest warrant has been received.
Roy recalled that Health Minister Banna Gupta had filed a defamation case against him over his statements about irregularities in Covid incentive distribution.
He clarified that in such cases, the defendant is usually summoned under a bailable section before the trial begins.
Neither he nor the Bistupur police station has received any such summons to date.
The last hearing for the case took place on May 18, 2022, and the next one is scheduled for July 21, 2023.

On that day, he will appear before the court and, if necessary, apply for bail, he said in the statement.
Roy expressed surprise over the spread of these false rumours and suggested that they might have been circulated to counterbalance the recent dismissal of a case against him in court.
He emphasized his eagerness to present the facts in court and appreciated the opportunity to do so.
