Lightning Kills Couple During Storm in Galudih

Lightning strike during a sudden storm leads to the untimely demise of a couple in Galudih’s Khadiyadih village, leaving the community in shock.

JAMSHEDPUR – A sudden thunderstorm in Galudih’s Khadiyadih village claimed the lives of a couple, Dhanpati Gop and his wife, Premika Gop, both 45, on Wednesday.

The tragic incident occurred as they were resting in the veranda of their house, unaware of the imminent danger.

The couple was sitting together when the weather turned for the worse and lightning strikes began. Caught off-guard, both husband and wife were fatally struck by a heavy lightning bolt, leading to their instant demise.

A visiting woman from Haludbani village, Sakoon Sabar, witnessed the unfortunate incident. She immediately alerted the other villagers, leading to a large gathering at the scene of the tragedy.

Dhanpati Gop was a well-respected figure in the village, known for running a local hotel and performing kirtan, a form of devotional music, to support his family.

The couple, both well-known and loved in the community, are survived by their two sons, Rajesh Gope and Rakesh Gope, who currently work for a company in Chennai.

News of the incident traveled quickly, drawing the attention of local officials. Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren, CO Rajeev Kumar, and Zilla Parishad member Subhash Singh arrived at Khadiyadih village shortly after receiving information about the tragedy.

The villagers are in mourning and are offering support to the bereaved family while grappling with the shocking loss of their fellow villagers to such an unforeseen act of nature.
