Wild Tuskers Trample Man to Death in Seraikela District, Villagers Demand Action
Jamshedpur: A 42-year-old man in Seraikela district, adjacent to Jamshedpur, was crushed to death by a herd of elephants, leaving the villagers in a state of fear.
The incident took place in the Palna forest area of the Chandil sub-division, where a wild elephant from a herd of 35 to 84 elephants trampled the man, who had gone out for defecation.
After the incident, the herd of elephants moved towards the village, causing panic among the locals.

The villagers then collaborated with the Forest Department to guide the elephants back into the forests of the Dalma mountain area.
The Forest Department team immediately reached the spot and provided a compensation of 10,000 rupees to the victim’s family.
However, the incident has left the villagers in anger, as such incidents have been happening regularly, and no measures have been taken to curb them.
The villagers are demanding immediate action from the authorities to prevent further such incidents.
Incidents of tuskers trampling and harming villagers have been on the rise in the state of Jharkhand, and incidents like these have become frequent causing anger among villagers..
Despite several efforts by the Forest Department to prevent such incidents, they continue to occur due to the rampant encroachment of forest areas and destruction of elephant habitats.
Villagers say that there is a need for the authorities to take concrete steps to prevent such conflicts and ensure the safety of both humans and wildlife.
