3 arrested with illicit liquor worth 50 lakhs, mini hooch factory busted

Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur police have once again busted an illegally run hooch factory and have arrested three persons on the charges of producing illicit liquor.

Those who have been arrested include P Prasad from Sopodera, A Mahto from Turiyabeda in the MGM police station area, and Y Yadav from Baridih.

But, the main vendor of illicit liquor and accused in this case, G Kaivarta and another G Kaivarta, are still out of reach of police. Raids are on to arrest them too.

A total of 5541 liters of hooch—in 9512 bottles—that are estimated to be worth Rs 50 lakh were confiscated by the police.

The DSP Law and Order Sumit Kumar Aggarwal said that the police were tipped-off that P Prasad, a resident of Parsudih Sopodera, was engaged in the selling of illegal alcohol from his in-laws’ house.

Ten liquor cases were stashed behind the stairs when the police searched his in-laws’ home on March 21.

When questioned, P Prasad admitted that he purchased the alcohol from G Kaivarta and another G Kaivarta of Kamalpur in the Seraikela Kharsawan area.

After searching G Kaivarta’s warehouse, the cops found alcohol loaded onto two small trucks.

At the location, A Mahato and Y Yadav, two truck drivers, were detained.

Two automobiles were also confiscated.

At the scene, there were a total of 621 cartons with 9512 bottles of alcohol, 6,500 lids, 1350 empty bottles, and stickers from various businesses and all of these were confiscated.
