Kanhaiya Singh is accused in 19 cases of different police stations: SSP

Jamshedpur: Kanhaiya Singh, a member of the infamous Akhilesh Singh gang of Jamshedpur was sent to jail by the city police on Thursday.

Before being arrested, he was handcuffed and paraded through the streets from Bengal Club to Jubilee Park.

Based on the statement of Kanhaiya Singh, the cops found and seized a firearm and two live rounds.

The SSP of Jamshedpur Prabhat Kumar said that Kanhaiya was arrested by the police in Kanpur while traveling to Vaishno Devi. He was then brought into the city and sent to jail.

In 19 cases throughout the district, Kanhaiya has been named as accused. These cases related to crimes like murder and violation of the Arms Act.

Also, The SSP added, he has been accused of intimidation and extortion against business owners of restaurants and shops.

He said that Kanhaiya is also a convict in a murder case and was sentenced by the courts in the case. For now, he is on bail while the High Court is considering an appeal.

According to the SSP Kanhaiya has confessed to possessing three weapons during questioning, one of which he had given to his nephew Anshu, another to his friend Pauru, and the third he had retained for himself.

After being found with a gun on the court grounds, Anshu, Kanhaiya’s nephew, had told the police that Kanhaiya had handed the gun to him. Since then, the police had been pursuing Kanhaiya, and on the basis of a confidential tip-off, they eventually managed to arrest him in Kanpur.
