Tata Steel creates a huge mural of JRD Tata to commemorate his 117th birth anniversary

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has created a 30 feet mural of JRD Tata at Tata Steel Sports Complex in Jamshedpur to commemorate his 117th birth anniversary.

The JRD Tata mural is created by an Estonian technology company SprayPrinter. The company uses robot that can scale a building to print large murals and is designed to spray five colors simultaneously to create a full-color image.

This is the 2nd mural created through the robotic technology by Tata Steel. The first mural of Naval Tata was created at the Naval Tata Hockey Academy at Jamshedpur and was unveiled on March 2 this year during the inauguration of the Naval Tata Hockey Academy building.

The JRD Tata mural was unveiled by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel and Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President Tata Workers’s Union on July 29 amidst select guests.

JRD Tata was a doyen of Indian industry and a pioneering aviator. He headed one of the largest industrial empires in the country, Tata Sons, for over five decades. The Tatas were the first industrial house to encourage sporting talent in India. Besides encouraging sportsmen, they were responsible in bringing into existence the Cricket Club of India. On March 2, 1991, JRD Tata Sports Complex was inaugurated by JRD Tata. This was the first institution named on him and was a platinum Jubilee gift from Tata Steel to the citizens of Jamshedpur.

Spread over 30 acres of area, the complex has an 8-lane synthetic track, international-size swimming pool, boxing centre, skating area, basketball court, archery ground, handball ground, lawn tennis court, volleyball court, table tennis hall, chess centre and adventure sports. The JRD Tata Sports Complex is the home of Jamshedpur Football Club, making the football club the only Indian Super League (ISL) franchisee to have its own stadium.
