Transgenders urge DC to organise special vaccination camps for them

Jamshedpur: The transgender community has urged the DC of East Singhbhum to make available vaccines for its members too and ensure that all members of the third gender community are vaccinated against covid-19 as soon as possible.

Corona epidemic has spread all over the country. Keeping in mind the risk of infection, everyone wants to get vaccinated.

However, the members of third gender community in Jamshedpur have not been fortunate enough to get vaccinated yet.

On Thursday, a delegation of transgender community reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to the DC urging him to ensure that every member of their community is vaccinated too.

The delegation said that there has been no effort has been made on the part of administration to include their members in the vaccination drive.

They said that in the past they had raised the demand for a Community Development Centre for themselves. Even that demand was not heeded to.

The delegation said that they have been corresponding with the DC for a long time. Despite that not much could be done.

The delegation urged the DC of East Singhbhum to organise special vaccination camps for transgenders even in Jamshedpur on the lines of the camps organised in Ranchi.

They lauded the initiative taken by the DC of Ranchi in this connection.

They said that the way the DC of Ranchi, Chhavi Ranjan has organised counselling for the transgenders of Ranchi, Jamshedpur DC too should do the same.
