Nitish Kumar takes oath as CM, Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi Deputy CM
Jamshedpur: Amarendra Pratap Singh, the 5th time MLA from Arrah and a leader who has his roots in Jamshedpur, has been included in the Nitish Kumar cabinet in Bihar. He took oath of office along with Nitish Kumar and others included in the cabinet.
Earlier today, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 7th time. Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi have been administered oath as the Deputy CM too.
In an oath taking ceremony in Raj Bhavan the Governor of Bihar Fagu Chouhan administered the oath of office to all the members of the new cabinet.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the national president of BJP J P Nadda were also present on the occasion.
On the other hand, BJP MLA Amarendra Pratap Singh, who started his political career from Jamshedpur, and will now represent Arrah constituency for the fifth time, has been made a minister too. Earlier, he has served as the Deputy Speaker of Bihar Assembly too.
Amarendra Pratap Singh was quite active in the political arena of Bihar during the 1990s. His brother Mrigendra Pratap Singh was the finance minister in Jharkhand and had event done a stint as Assembly Speaker.
Amarendra Pratap Singh had started his political career with the workers’ movement in Tata Motors. At that time he used to live in Govindpur near Telco. Later, he also led the East Singhbhum district unit of BJP as its president. In 1991 he also contested Lok Sabha elections from Jamshedpur seat, but could not win.
Later, he shifted his base to Bihar and the voters of Arrah reposed full confidence in him.
He has served as the Deputy Speaker of Bihar Assembly too. In 2015 elections, he lost with a small margin. But, this time around, he defeated the CPI (ML) candidate with a thin margin.
Amarendra Pratap Singh originally hails from Chaugai village of Buxar district and belongs to a family with political legacy. His grandfather Sardar Harihar Singh was the Chief Minister of Bihar during 1960s.
